  • Let there be light.

I spent the best $23 in a real long time today on a 48 inch LED light fixture. I've been working on Red with the headband light, the flashlight, all those things to deliver light where I need it. I've got plenty of overhead lighting in the garage but none where I need it - under the hood. I don't know why I waited so many years to figure it out. The shelf in the garage - there it is, it's always been there. I got a fixture that's supposed to hang straight down from the ceiling on chains and I mounted it on that shelf cocked sideways to aim every bit of the light where I need it - under the hood. I don't know who else will ever get plumb excited and thrilled to finally have enough light after some years.

Garage, daytime, garage door open, all overhead lights on.

Unable to get the video to Bangshift... check your facebook messenger for my version that I did last year... I got tired of not having enough light underhood as well... I also didn't like the idea that when I opened the overhead door, it blocked the overhead lights...

Man, that's just drop dead cool as hell right there! Super bright lights mounted on the overhead door. It's a shame that video won't post here.

I swapped my shop over to led a couple of months ago, I love it, not to mention my 4×4 led with a magnet that I can put under hood or under my lift for extra light.

I mounted 2 LED lamps to the overhead door, mounted a suspension cable for the runners to ride on and wired a lighting receptacle next to the garage door opener... this was all done because I wanted to have light underhood while working on vehicles, and I also did not like that when I opened the overhead door it blocked the light coming down on the vehicles... I wish I could post the video of it in operation, but no luck....

As we age light becomes more and more critical. At least it has for me.

Me too. Sue Unit seems immune. She still reads and works on jigsaw puzzles in what I call dark, no light shining directly on the work.

I use one of those lights as an under hood light! Most of the time I can find a hole in the hood to put the S-hooks in. I liked it so much I bought another one just to have.

It was not my idea I got it from a mustang guy on YouTube.

Now I'm playing with some of that new math. If one of 'em is 200 times better than it was before, then two of 'em are 300 times better than it was before.

                          1) Shop lights on.
                          2) Under hood LED light
                          3) Easy install! Click image for larger version Name:	PXL_20220728_031918444_copy_1280x960.jpg Views:	0 Size:	420.1 KB ID:	1323549 Click image for larger version Name:	PXL_20220728_031928292_copy_1280x960.jpg Views:	0 Size:	454.2 KB ID:	1323550

I have a better system on the vette . I'll post pics of it when I get home.

These are the single tube LED hanging light from Harbor Freight. Single tube I think 5000 lumens , 20 bucks apiece. I usually have one under the car and one above-ish . Here it's being used on the vette while I try to remember how it all goes back together from the opti-spark/timing chain/oil pan gasket oddessey . Click image for larger version
