  • Stude to the Max

About 3 days ago when my road trip started , I stopped at a retired co workers place in KY. Here are some of his Studebaker cars . Not shown is a Studebaker Express . The Red and silver is my favorite. I think it is a '37 Dictator. I rean in a few of the Interstate Battery Great Races . I think it was used in a few race posters . Man he has some great stories .

Yes, '37 Dictator. Only year for that unusually shaped window. I see he has an Avanti, too. He's a Studebaker Drivers Club member, I assume? Probably in the Antique Studebaker Club?

I didn't take a pic of the 53 . But here is a pic of it on one of 2 calendars it was on back in the day . Only things not original ( it says custom in the caption) are the turbine wheels and the '55 engine . Click image for larger version

A black 1951 Champion convertible, very rare.

Also, the truck you mentioned is called a Coupe Express, a very stylish way to carrying a load of lumber to be sure.

Is the Lark a six or a V8? The first year for the Hawk family was 1956 and ran to 1963.

The lark is a 6 and a survivor. The paint is even original . The coup express has a 4 door sedan stable mate that they based the express on . Alfred probably will never get it done but his son will probably do something with it . It has those cool art deco headlights .

This is his son's truck that they built out of a grain truck . It was sat on a ford bronco chassis with a pick up bed . His son used to work in my depth. At work but moved to Kentucky to be with his dad and mom more .

I actually had one of these but a cranky next door lady and a code inforcer ruined that . It was a pick up and had the cool smaller opening fenders . Stude , don't these have interchangeable front and rear fenders ?

That is an M-series pickup, built from 1938 to 1952. Believe it or not, the fenders were all identical. You could swap them from front to back and side to side. Studebaker was all about saving money.
