Optima Challenge 2023

Thunderhill - in Willow, California (not Willow Springs, between Redding and Sacramento), Portland International Raceway (again).

I need to tune the car and basically clean it. I also need to work on the motorhome - however, I'm not driving it to Thunderhill. I have a friend who lives relatively nearby - so I'll basecamp from his place.

and now Virginia raceway is about sold out (10 spots left).

story of my life - I get on just before the tidal wave of people flood the sport. smh.

thankfully the Youtuber brigade hasn't yet descended on it to ruin it forever.... e.g. SEMA.

I tried to sign up for Rockingham but that ain't official yet, just a teaser on the schedule. I don't see anybody running HPDE at Daytona next year so Hmmmph.. Right now Red's in somebody else's shop. I put the Detroit Rocker cams in and took Red to see Dyno Man. Red made 28 more hp on the treadmill but was running out of gas above 5K RPM. Red now needs a bigger fuel pump and bigger injectors. Fuel pump? Oh hell no, never again. I told DM to order the parts and put them on and call me whenever Red's ready. Hotrodding is like deer meat - it gets bigger as you chew it.

Road America is the same weekend as The NASCAR Road Course Race.....
No wonder why it sold out fast

so the track... did a warm up lap around it at 50% or so.... I'm going to put at least one extra quart in the car because the long, left hander saw some very bad oil pressures.....

someone forgot to mention that if this track isn't going up, it's going down... I'll try to gopro it tomorrow.... it makes Willow springs look like a gokart track
