I'm thinking this is both good and bad. If the job is indoors (we had this in the EPA lab building from time to time) this thing would be great. But for the most part I don't know how you would recharge it on a worksite. Seems like you would have to bring in a gas or Diesel powered generator which defeats the purpose.

But for situations where an engine's exhaust will be an issue, they will be the cat's pajamas!

I wish I knew how to cut n paste from my Email but in the current SAE Smartbrief they have an article on a Case electric backhoe/loader with performance comparable to a (IIRC) 57HP Diesel unit. They claim between 4 and 8 hours run time with backhoe use offering around 8 hours but with less run time using it to move the machine and move stuff with the loader.
