a little of something for everyone

    oh Monster

    another BoB should have been

utterly useless but wholly support and need

    very clean

no toyotas were harmed in the making of this... seriously, no stock Toyota parts on it

    kids

okay, we're getting to the end but in "inventions that really never need to become"

    and

given that car has less Buick left in it then my Corvette has Corvette left in it..... I'm not sure we can dice this one thin enough to come to a conclusion

with that said, I really do like that style.... the GMG OBS, the Skylark, the Firebird and the Camaro... and, I suppose, the Mercedes (the red one)... wonder what my 50 would look like in that style?

me too, but I'll never admit it.

Just like getting ice cream for the hookers, some things that happened in Vegas will stay right there.

And for those with dirty minds - no morals were bent, abused or ignored in the making of the above story.

My opinion.... airshocks are a terrible way to live. They like them, problem with air shocks is the spring rate increases to infinity the hotter the shock gets. Not a big deal when rock crawling, really terrible if you have a 20 mile commute to rock crawling

That black '70 Chevelle was built by Alex Hernandez of Sac Speed Shop. Love or hate high-riser builds, his work on anything he has touched screams quality.

Too many: overlanding builds, CyberTurds, bro-dozers

Favorite car from the show was "Darlene", 1958 Plymouth with a Demon 170 engine swap. Stupidly clean, OE-looking so long as the hood was shut. I'll throw in a picture once I'm done processing.

                  my absolute most favorite car

this one of 3 within this style but IMO the best (though I loathe the front splitter)

wait, where is the motor? under the dash, of course

                  my second favorite car.

keep in mind that rear window is both fully glass and fully custom

The Chevelle was nice (and I can't believe I'm saying this) but it had a lot of flaws - did you catch how they keep the wind out? someone's shower no longer has a sweep. Whenever you remove the drip rail, it makes the car pretty uncomfortable to drive. That shower sweep was their attempt to cut down wind noise... I think this was my pivot year. I'm far less in awe of most of the cars - Kindig is now only making CF1 cars (and its apt to compare because the black 66 Chevelle of theirs is, IMO, the pinnacle of the exclusive 'show' cars.)

I did take less pictures (though you can also blame Imgur for fighting me on several uploads so not everything got onto the cloud)

                      Let's be 100% clear here.

There is no way I challenge any of the talent here for their jobs. Nothing, and I mean, nothing at all would make me change from participant to the guy with the bullseye on their back for: covering too much of one thing, or not covering enough of one thing. Even worse, I'd have to be nice to sponsors who, quite frankly, if the choice was water or gas on their dumpster fire - I'd choose napalm.

I'm glad the other cave dwellers here enjoy the content but I do not ever want to be part of the content carnival. That said, I enjoy seeing stuff that I missed or don't have their insider perspective on stuff.

Can't wait to see what Chad writes about the unveiling of the hydrogen fueled, hemi powered 57 Chevy.

And about the overland/car campers. These are the same people screaming to electrify everything but still dip their toes in the sweet smell of burned hydrocarbons. Sure, they have a Tesla as their commuter now, but they refuse to let go of their overland - and by extension, fuel fueled lifestyle. Be nice to them, their votes matter.

and since I'm on the soapbox.

I don't like bro trucks. Not particularly fond of many things including what Overland is now.

                        BUT

Mr. Finnegan, your cheap shot at bro trucks for missing front driveshafts (there were maybe 2 out of the several hundred), and hate to the overlanders really needs to be colored by something.

You bought a 13k mile OBS truck to SEMA. You just put an LS in it and you had 4 months to do it. If you're going to run your mouth about unfinished trucks, let's just go ahead and shut that one down right now. Your truck is missing its AC - nice "open to the air" lines. Also, in talking to your sponsors, they mentioned that while your truck does indeed run - it cannot be driven because the transmission "isn't shifting right"

Love the wordsmithing that your truck "runs." Great, it doesn't drive so perhaps before you start throwing rocks at trucks that can participate in the SEMA cruise (all while missing a front driveshaft), you spend a couple minutes running one line and tuning what you brought.

And about that Jeep that was missing its front driveshaft.... it was driving and broke.... something your OBS couldn't do..... can I please call these people content monkeys? please?! after all, they are entertaining but all they really throw is ... well... yeah. dung

BangShift SEMA photos seem to not load here and it would help to have some tour-guiding (aka thoughtful captions) so this is all I get. Favorite car, the Miata snowmobile.

That's why I let Chad talk with sponsors. "Blunt Force Honesty" has no place at an event like that.

There are two cars that best represent the dichotomy between "not quite finished" and "Bluetooth Driveshaft". One was the DeLorean that had a Ferrari V8 shoved in the back. It is obvious that the engine isn't in any kind of running condition, but the lack of an engine harness is a big thing. They didn't try to hide the fact that it wasn't done. Anyone with eyes could see that it wasn't complete. While I would prefer to have the car done, I understand that shit happens.

Then there is the Miata that was supposed to have a "twin-turbo Lamborghini V10" swap that was really a small-block Chevrolet wearing screwed-on Lamborghini parts. That dude got clowned so badly that he opted to haul his car off of the property.

                              Editor-at-Large at...well, here, of course!

didn't see the Miata but did see the Ferrari Delorean. it takes a lot of work to put a longitudinal V8 in the place where a latitudinal V6 was installed. Plus, that was parked where they usually put dumpster scooters - so I was okay with it.

yet we're back to Finnegan and his 'running' OBS... not sure there's a line but if there is, he falls into the Chevorghini side. No one said anything that the D was a running vehicle - and there were plenty of nonrunners (including Sniper and Twelveair.... check out the chromed brake rotors on both).....

and let's hit that aside.... I thought the Big awards required the car to drive in and out of the show, has that changed? is it a wink and a nod now?
