  • Welded Metal Art for a Cause

I came up with this idea to help a couple of non-profits that I support, and at the same time spread the word about what I do. Check it out if you get a chance, and feel free to pass it on if you dig it I'm going to build one bike sculpture every week for a year to auction off, and I'm using a blog to keep track of it. I'll also be posting updates on various other projects that I do, I'm always messing with something new.

    Here is my new blog:

The first auction is ending tomorrow! The second one will be up soon.

If you go to my site and check out the gallery, I take pictures of 80-90% of what I do. And 99% of what I have pictures of has been done since the beginning of last year I absolutely HATE it when people say I can do what I do because I have patience.....it's completely the opposite! If a project is gonna take me more than a few hours, I can't stand it lol.

The bike I'm working on today is a commissioned piece, it's bike #85 overall. I think I did somewhere around 70 of them last year. It depends on the bike, whether it's a "model" as opposed to something from my own brain, but typically they take 2-4 hours. The cars and trucks take double that.

Man, I haven't gas welded since I was an apprentice! I've been meaning to mess around doing that though. Almost all of the sculptures I do are 100% tig welded.

                    Wow man!

that's an impressive set of skills you've put together in a pretty short span of time - 7 years really isn't that long in a trade like welding - very nicely done.

I hope to meet you sometime and check out your shop.

Thanks! I'm actually a millwright by trade, but welding is really what I love to do...and what I hope to be doing for a long time. I had a terrific situation when I hired in to Chrysler, the range and quality of training was top notch! I took the buyout this year, but I'm very thankful for the opportunity and experience they gave me.

We will have to meet up sometime. The shop isn't all that impressive right now lol. I work out of my garage....it's not small, but my freaking deuce and a quarter takes up half of it!!!
