Re: Magazine covers
I've got tons of mags but I honestly only remember a couple. One being a HR(?) that had a Pontiac 3000 or something not sure what its called but the pontiac version of the citation and a recent issue of HR with a Challenger on it barn finds issue I believe.

Re: Magazine covers
Was it the orange split bumper '70-1/2 Camaro or the one where they faked the tire smoke?
C'mon Steve. Tell us.

Re: Magazine covers
Back in the late seventies or early eighties I saw a Car Craft with a Camaro on the cover and I just had to have it, coolest cover ever. Still remember that awesome cover, and I don't regret the buying decision.

Re: Magazine covers
Back in the late 80s (88?) I stumbled across an issue of High Performance Mopar with a color picture of a row of Superbird wings on the cover. I was blown away and subscribed immediately. After high school it seemed none of my friends cared about cars or had any idea what a Superbird was. I used that magazine to clue them in to the history of Superbirds and why I wanted one. The guys I worked with knew I was looking for one as I was checking out classic car dealers all over the country, but they didn't really understand what a Superbird was until they could saw them in color on the cover of High Performance Mopar and in the article on the Wing Car Reunion in the magazine. That cover hooked me and I kept my subscription for years until the magazine finally folded in the mid to late 90s.

As a side note, I tend to not buy mags with girlies on the cover cuz that to me is a sign there is probably no useful info in that particular issue. No, I'm not gay, either.
now where did I put my sharpie.

Re: Magazine covers
Never.I always look for the Table of Contents page(or pages) if I can find'em(some aren't easy to find). Then I thumb thru the mag. anyway before making a decision.

September 2000 Hot Rod. It has cover mention of my dyno article. Oops - reminds me I owe someone a copy of that.

Re: Magazine covers
That's funny. When the Dalr Jr issue came in the mail, I thought, "Wow, they'll sell a lot this month." If I had not had a subcription, that is one issue I would have bought cuz of the cover. That car is bad... Anyway, shows how much I know...
BTW, I haven't bought a mag off the rack in a couple years cuz I have subs to all the mags I want. Funny thing, the more mags I read, the less interesting they are.

early 80's HR cover with Mike Johnson's yellow 69 Chevelle with new parts all around it. First shiny object I ever cared about.
