    Re: art work

I can attest to Amy's (Mrs. Gene's) talent. Often artists don't think they're that good because what they see on canvas (or paper or whatever) doesn't match what they saw in their head. Father-in-law #2 was a real honest-to-God professional artist and he had the same thoughts even though he made much of his living at it (he also taught art). So encourage where you can.

It is definitely another level of skill, but encourage your niece to try laying down some lines with graphite, then fill in the color with oil and see if she likes it. Also direct her to www.wetcanvas.com for lots of good advice.

The thing about artists is that they generally do what they want.
