What is sitting around here that can beat a 383 in a 4 door Nova? hhhmmmmmm.... I bet Walt could just leave Ugly in 3rd, never open the secondaries and still get him by a few bus lengths. Or just put the Formy in drive and stand on it. I think Ugly might be a bit much for Walt, that thing scares the snot out of me and I have gone tens.

Ask him if he wants to line up with this one.

467 ci Pontiac, 330cfm E heads, 270/272 solid roller, 1050 Dominator, Victor, MSD 6AL. Just got it drivable today, the idle is around 1800rpm and this is no...

Don't know the time line on the 05 being together (thinking june) but once it is figured out you are welcome to it, but seems a little unfair (cannon to a knife fight). I would say take the 63, thing handles too bad to let others drive it. If I get it to drive strait you can use it. The third optoin in my stable would be my Capri, don't know if it has the stones to beat the Nova but has a vibe kinda like the scort.

For now the plan is to finish the buildup of the Escort for June at Maxton. A fresh motor and maybe a little help from a bottle and I'll try and give him a run for his money. Borrowing someone else's car is quick and easy, but it isn't how I want to do things (Though he can probably borrow some pretty fast cars also). It's not with the "for the hell of it" spirit of how we do things. We are also trying to get our machine trades instructor to bring out his 'vette, though the 11:1 350, 4 speed, and 4:11s driving the 10.5"s out back probably mean that we would both be seeing his taillights, though he has never taken it to the track.

Walt, if he just so happens to borrow a car, fear not, through the collective brotherhood of BANGshifters that would step up in helping one of our little bros out, I think you'd have him covered.

Stay on target for your LSR goals no matter the smack talk that comes, because I'm pretty sure you will achieve more with your "slow" car goals wise, than he could ever imagine with his "faster" car.

I would love to see you try your hand at some SCCA autocross with this car

My friend might find some interesting things about this car. With the adjustable suspension and wider tires, I think I might actually be able to get this car to hook up better than the old car. My car wouldn't hook up at all. I had to carefully pedal the car out of the hole, and I don't really think I came off the clutch all the way until second gear. Some kind of bumpstop to hold the rear from squatting of the line will probably be pretty easy to rig. The heavier swaybar, stiffer shocks, and adjustable coilovers should help with the launch. This trans has steeper gears, so it might allow me to use third a little more. I just barely had time to shift it before I am through the lights. One problem will be that this car is heavier, but with a better engine I should be able to make up for that.

The 383 that he is building will probably have some decent pep, however. One of our mutual friends is a guy who has put together several fast 383s and is helping my friend get the combo matched up right. Rendon is also planning on subframe connectors and a roll bar, which given his goals for power/torque, he is probably going to need the extra stiffness. I think he had found a 4.11 ish Dana 60 with limited slip for the back.

I figure I will be making about 120 hp, and he will be making about 350-400ish depending on how aggressive he gets. He'll come in at about 3500 lbs, and I will probably try and get mine at 2200 loaded.

A 50 shot will bring my power to weight pretty close to his. ;D

14.6 in the quarter at 88 makes me think it would do pretty good in the 1/8th. That's a decent ET but not much MPH... and you could probably sprocket it up for that special occaision and gear it to redline at the end of the 1/8th. Even with a 383, it'd probably give it a good run.
