  • so i just inherited a '69 El Camino

original owner was my wife's grandfather. it's a 350 1bbl / three speed car that he took great care of. interior is a little trashed but the cars never been in an accident and only repainted once. passenger side front fender was replaced with an oem part years ago to fix a dent.

dash is uncut. basically this thing is in really nice shape. just needs a repaint and a new interior and then onto the fun stuff.

so my question is, how much rubber can i stuff under the back end? anyone got any backspacing measurements? i'm thinking 17 or 18-inch rally wheels all the way around and a big block under the hood.

are there any good el camino forums i should check out? thanks!

As memory serves little hammer work and 295 60 15 are doable. My wife inherited a 87 Sentra, yea we all hate you. ;D

        More pic please

Well I have stopped buying stuff for cars I don't own. Is that a step in the right or wrong direction?

Wow, an unmolested 40 year old car is always a great find, especially at that price!! Enjoy.

Nice score!! Try chevelles.com for any and all questions, it's a great resource... I highly recommend the grand cherokee steering box swap, it'll give the 'camino a whole new feel to it.

my brothers chevelle with a rear end out of a 67 gto {1 inch narrower then the chevy} we could just squeeze a 10.5 slick in
on the street we have 275/60/15's on 8.5 rims with a 4 or 4.5 back space so that should give a starting place

my chevelle we rollde the quarters with a bball bate and i got some pretty big meats under but why mess with a cherry body nice score lucky stiff

                          looks like a 1bbl, it's really a 2bbl.

Nice! I think Rally wheels only come in 15" size, although some companies make weird lookign ones that are larger. 275/60 15 should fit on 15x8 rallys.
