  • At What Point?

At what point do we decide to GO with the decision we made a few seconds ago? It happens in milliseconds.

I'm married to Sue Unit, the best calculated decision I've ever made, and maybe smarter than anything I've ever done. Luck or fate or blessings from above. We're the Wees in Weeville. Thinking back, there had to be some "point" where there was a critical decision beng made. If it was a moment or a month, I became convinced (correctly) that was the right thing to do. And thankfully, she agreed. She must have been thinking the same thing.

As things happen and you make decisions in life, how do you know a pivotal moment when you get to one? You don't. They are not all scheduled. But you can always look back and SEE a pivotal public moment (weddings, funerals, etc.) .

But truly pivotal moments are seldom that way - some of the bigger ones are spontaneous - Boy, if I had only SAID (whatever), or if I had only DONE (whatever). Stuff you'd like to have a chance to do over again.

Or on the other hand, what I DID say or DO that steered things in a totally different direction at that very moment, etc.

And then there's the "I forgot somethig in the house so I had to go back and get it, and that delay interrupted the timing such that I didn't get hit by the truck at the intersection....."

Okay, I'm off topic. Never mind.

No, I'm not on drugs, I just think way too much.

a certain price last Sept.Sold in Oct.and went up $4.00 after I sold it.Missed out on $3,000.00.No regrets
made me $9,900.00 richer after fees. Now it's selling for very close to what I sold it.Just one of those
      millisecond decisions.

I was standing outside the Technical building at the mill in SC. Had been there at the mill for over 20 years.

There were big cutbacks going on all over the company. The guard drove by with an engineering clerk in the guard car, a very good friend of mine, taking him out the gate. Dang, they fired Danny. They had already fired Helen and Gerorge and several other folks.

The guard car was barely out of sight when my boss walked up and said, "peewee, would you be interested in a position on a corporate training team?"

At that moment, I didn't know what NOT to say. I said, "Yeah, I guess I would."

I never in my life saw THAT coming. Standing at the crossroads on that day and didn't even know it until that second. I could have just as easily said "No," and then what? Get a ride in the guard car? That was a lose-lose proposition that was hand-delivered to me.

One day I was standing at an intersection and saw a car zooming by, I was thinking about crossing, but decided to wait until that car passed. It was an amazing thing, as later I found out I could have been killed right then and there had I walked out in front of it. Think about that. It's something that has always stayed with me and I have thoughts "what if" about it often. Scary.

It was amazing that you saw a car coming and decided not to step out in front of it?? That's giving yourself a lot of credit. ;)

And "what if", that's simple, if you would have done it, I wouldn't be writing this post right now. ;)
