      Re: 787 First Flight

It took some hunting thru the Wikipedia listing but I found the info on the scalloped nacelle. It's for sound attenuation - helps mix the higher velocity air out of the engine with the ambient air behind it. Makes sense to me.

Boeing owns them, they work and are cheap to maintain....and they can fly REALLY slow, yet keep up with the test plane close to it's top speed. They are also small and nimble, perfect for the task.

Must have been cool to be involved in the engineering of such a huge project - I hope it is successful for boeing - we need all the success of American companies we can muster.

It's the 787-8, the shorter range, fewer passenger workhorse...we're still working on the engineering for the -9 which is the longer range model that is basically a stretch of the -8...with a lot of changes I can't talk about.

Hey guys.... want to take some pride in America....

Folks that work at Boeing .... build the Best airplanes in the world and frankly we don't sponsor them to get up in the morning....

The Airbus is built with a consortium of moneys supplied buy the European based countries that got tired of having to pay us to drive a "real" airplane.... And with all things.... the Airbus is actually pretty good as a result.... but it took Subsidies from Hell to make it happen.... America and Boeing.... the 787... Hello...

Good on you guys.... Seriously as a pilot kinda guy.... I'd drive your junk!!!
