  • "hot rods"

I really don't like it when Rusty Wallace or John Force or others, say"My hot rod "was really good/bad today.
These cars are race cars, not HOT RODS.To me there is a big difference between street rods, hot rods, and rat rods.
A lot of racing started with HOT RODS,but has no relation to all out race cars now days.

I don't mind it so much when John Force says it. I hate it when NASCAR guys say it, must be because of the joke that series has become.

Here's my 2 cents, John Force is a one of a kind and he can call his car anything he wants to! I've always referred to my cars as Hot Rods although the mental image for most people seems to be a 30's Ford Coupe or Roadster.

None of it bothers me. If it makes lots of noise and goes fast its a hotrod.

I agree, John Force has paid his dues and can call his Rods anything he wants to.

Anybody with three (?) ultra-hot drag racing daughters has my vote ;D

Yeah, think of DF's minibike as a hot rod!

At least they don't say Street Rod. And, if ya wanna bitch. What about allowing Toyotas in NASCAR and Funny Cars? I say BULLSHIT

                    Re: "hot rods"

I've always classified anything loud and fast, low and cool, or old and vintage a hot rod. If it makes my blood pump, and doesn't have a japanese/korean motor it is a hot rod.

                    I LOVE HOT RODS!!

so, if I understand you correctly, then Bob Falfa's 55 in American Graffiti was not a Hot Rod but, instead, an adolescence (sp?) ,high school car ??? am I correct in that interpretation??

works for me - - - especailly the Hot Rod Era part where they mention Hot Rods began in 1930 to the muscle cars in 1965 and also interesting that Wally started NHRA in '51 - - - - I didn't realize that :o
