Just saw the end of Muscle Car / Spike TV and Lou Santiago said this was his last show and he was going to pursue 'my dreams'. Sound similar to CJTV's DF - anyone know where is is going? I really liked Lou, he was the real deal

Re: Where is Lou Santiago of Muscle Car / Spike TV going
He hopefully has been offered a chance to produce & direct
a show of his own making, for our sake. Spike lost their best.
But, in a couple of e-mails with Lou in years past about different projects,
he always spoke as if having his own shop, restoring & fabricating, was a
strong personal goal. (He has major pals in NC, & currently lives in Tennessee.)
Maybe, like Foose & Boyd, he'll one day do both. --
With 17 yrs. Navy service, including SEAL team duty,
Lou really is the real deal, and wished the very best.

Thanks TLB.
PS. Got the director's cut of TLB, the movie this past Xmas. While a Poncho man myself, if I had to start from ground zero again, I'd be wanting a 55 much like the one James Taylor piloted back in '71a.k.a. - arrowhead from joysey

Lou Santiago was by FAR my favorite car show host, he was a real car guy. And it seemed he threw in a lot of his own personal touches unlike the other guys who read off cards.
Ill miss that show. No point in watching the Power Block anymore. Well I do want to see that mustang finished.

Re: Where is Lou Santiago of Muscle Car / Spike TV going
Lou was a great addition and will be sorely missed.
Regarding the earlier reference to Two Lane Blacktop:
(Thanks TLB.PS... I'd be wanting a 55 much like the one James Taylor piloted back in '71...)
My somewhat longish recollection:
I had just returned to my unit at Cubi Point PI after six months in Vietnam in October of 71. Saw TLB for the first time in a packed to the rafters movie house in Olangapo City, with a local pediatrician who lived in my apartment compound. I was an FMF medic and occassionally "redirected" salvage-bound medical supplies to her free clinic. Our first and last date - I was two years away from my hot rod (a bronze and white '57 two door wagon with a 301) and starved for anything about fast cars - hell, easy girls were everywhere, but Tri-5s were in short supply on that side of the globe....
The version we saw was from a hand held camera probably taken from the third row of a US movie house. It was dubbed in Tagalog without subtitles (this was about eight weeks after it was released). She tried translating, but couldn't figure out what was going on. The plot was so purely car-guy oriented that after a few minutes I was explaining everything that was going on. In retrospect, maybe think she really didn't care if she got it or not...
Then again, neither did my PhD spouse who lasted all of fifteen minutes beside me for my second (and last) viewing to date, yet just last weekend expected me to endure the second-rate remake of "The Thomas Crown Affair" in which the only vehicle of remote interest was a hacked up Shelby.

There goes the Power Block..
The one good thing they had going for them. I only watched the other shows because I was already sitting down. With Lou gone, no sence in even sitting down. Guess I'll have to work on my own car...

Originally posted by HEMIWith Lou gone, the only 2 guy's worth watching on SPIKE TV are Kenny Blankinship and Vic Romano.
And Chuck Hansen (sp?) was great on the old Hot Rod/Horsepower show. Big Chevelle guy, which makes an impact on me. I really like watching Lou work. I hope things go well for him. If anyone knows how to contact him, it would be a blast to have him on this forum. 8)
