Re: Saab gone...
Spyker was the last hope to buy the "Brand".
GM sold the actual tooling to make Saabs to a Chinese company that will basically build Saabs but brand them under their own company's brand.
Spyker was trying to buy the Saab name, but like the last weird boutique builder that tried, they could not come to an agreement.

Re: Saab gone...
If you live in China it won't be dead. They aren't going to be sold anywhere else.
It should be noted that Saab AB (the aircraft wing of the company) was split off years ago and is doing well. (most likely because GM hasn't managed it into the freaking ground)

Re: Saab gone...
I really don't see GM importing cars made by other companies, especially cars that will be years behind everything else in the market place. These guys are going to be building old 9-3s. It's like the VWs they built in Mexico for years after everyone else stopped building them.
In terms of sales I agree, they can't sell crap because nobody wants to buy!
Pontiac -- shut down
Saturn -- shut down (penske deal collapsed)
Saab -- sold tooling and shut down (Konneigseg deal and Spyker deal collapsed)
35k cars at the local lot have 26K written on them now! Smokin deals and they'll have factory warranties.

Re: Saab gone...
As much as I dont care for them its a shame to see them go. It really is because of GM and how many are going to lose their jobs here and abroad because of this? Some cheesey Asian car is going to replace them in the market place too.Not directly but somehow.

GM sold the tooling, not the assembly equipment at the factory, the engineers who designed them, nor the workers who built them.
And it won't say SAAB on the fender either.
It may look like one, but it will definitely NOT be one.
