  • Ford Pickup Tech....

    Hey Gang

I'm not a Ford guy, and Google choked on my query....

A Co-worker of mine has a '74 Ford 1 ton Camper Special. He says it's got a 380 Ford industrial engine in it. I keep asking if he means "390"? "No, it's a 380".

    Does such a critter exist?

He wants to sell it....I'll post it in the "For Sale" section when we get what it really is sorted out. He's not really a car guy....but thinks he is :

    Thanks

    Rob

    Re: Ford Pickup Tech....

I know Ford had a 330 and 361 industrial V8, but I have never heard of a 380. You'll occasionally see guys listing trucks with a 391ci motor but that is really just a 390. Ford just stuck a 1 in place of the 0 for the industrial trucks.

Why the hell would anyone install one of those weak suckers (330 or 361) into a truck on purpose?

I dunno...he swears up and down that it's a 380. Hopefully this week I can get over there and take a look. The city is after him to get it off the street, I offered to store it until it sells. I want all my ducks in a row before I advertise it for him. Sometimes he's "that guy" when it comes to vehicles! :D

Probably a 360 and he read the numbers wrong
Maybe, did Ford still make that engine then?
Rumors of my demise by rollover have been greatly exaggerated.
