Login problem for AOL users

Guys, if you are having problems logging in to the forums and are using AOL, you'll need to try another way (internet explorer, firefox) to get in for a while anyway.

I was contacted by a couple of members who were getting messages that they were bannned when they tried to login. The only common link was that they were bet using AOL.

We're working on fixing this, and we know the issue exists.

Every computer geek I know says stay away from AOHell if for no other reason that it attaches itself to every program on your hard drive.

I have an AOL account but just use it as an Email account (ME's business cards have an AOL address and we don't want to change when those cards are spread all over the USA). Neither of us use AOL as our portal onto the 'Net so we have not had the issue you mention.

Having an AOL email account is fine. Just don't use their web browser.

I now use Google Chrome, as SBC dropped the use of their browser.

I don't know all the technical details, but my in-laws had AOL and I know I don't want it. The instant messaging seems to be pretty good, but the browser, there's something wacky about it. I can watch people hitting my website from AOL and for every page they view, they've got a different IP address, like the browser is constantly changing channels for the one with the least traffic, or something.

Having an AOL email account is fine, using Internet Explorer, Firefox or other browser application.
Just don't use AOL as your Internet Service Provider (ISP) along with their AOL 9.0 Application Software.

Off topic kinda but Say I change IE 8 do I have to change all this crap over or will it do it automatically?

Off topic kinda but Say I change IE 8 do I have to change all this crap over or will it do it automatically?

If you go to IE8 you'll have to add this site to the "View in Compatibility Mode" list under tools, otherwise while typing posts the text jumps around. Other than that it runs like a champ.
