  • The SNAKE calls it quits!~

No sponsor for 2010, so Don Prudhomme is retiring!

Sad to hear that, just a sign of the times I guess, he was/is a true legend for sure!

I don't think he'll be gone for long.

My guess is he will STAY retired.

Why the hell wouldn't Mattel sponsor him again with Hot Wheels?

Maybe he'll get on with ESPN or Speed as an analyst......everybody knows he's an expert. They could use the help, too.

He was good working with Evans back in the day.

What kinda stinks is that they were at the table with someone and it must have fallen apart at the last minute. It doubly sucks for Spencer Massey who did a great job driving last season.

Prudhomme is smarter than the average bear. The guy NEVER raced on his own bucks. He sat out seasons because he didn't have someone willing to foot the bill. Lots of guys weren't that smart and raced themselves right into the poor house.

Well I guess it shows the apple don't fall to far from the tree either, being Larry Dixon went elsewhere when Snake couldn't guarantee a ride for 4 years.......

Well I guess it's just a sign of the times and this wonderful Economy we're dealing with right now. Go figure, the Bernsteins score a Sponsor and the Snake & Spencer Massey didn't? I'm sure there's more to the story then what I know but if I were a Sponsor I'd sooner put my money on the Snake's team. If he is really out of racing I think he'd be a great addition to the booth with Mike Dunn but then again he might be content to just sit home in Wonderful Sunny Southern California and enjoy life....

I can't say I am too sad about this. Don's done his time, was competitive until the end, and leaves with his head up.

The shame would be for him to come back out on a shoe string and become an also-ran. Lots of guys did that and I don't think that's the last image I'd want of the guy in drag racing.

Curious, how old is the SNAKE?
The yearly sponsor chase has got to be exhausting. Even in my extremely armature motorcycle racing sponsor chasing days I found the process to be a bit annoying, at a top-pro level it's got to be crazy??
