Oh, please - this concept racer from Ganassi has NOTHING to do with Tony George.

No, Tony George has nothing to do with this car. What I'm saying is I'd step down too if I seen this coming down the pike.

IndyCar drivers, including current champion Dario Franchitti, former champion Scott Dixon, and rising star Graham Rahal were on hand to see the new concept car.

Dixon gave the car high marks, while Franchitti said he was ?ready to drive one,? according to IndyStar.com.

Rahal, quoted on the IndyCar site, said, "The design is revolutionary. We have never seen an open-wheel racing car that looks like this. Is it going to be newsworthy? Yes. Is it going to catch eyeballs? Yes. Plus, there's good space for sponsors on it.

"From a driver's point of view, from all the simulations I've heard about, the performance of the car is not going to be a concern at all."

As usual, Spidey - you are the dork for ASSuming.

Plans are for any make of 2.0 liter turbocharged 4 banger (although Ganassi concept was an Audi).

I don't think this thing will ever come to fruition, however. Too far beyond the norm.

Looks like it would be a little tight going in.

I saw that, but that's like changing a shift knob on a stock car and calling it a custom

I think his heart was in the right place (American races for American drivers), but his vision didn't jibe with reality.
Jeff Gordon is a perfect example of Tony's "ideal racer" - came up in karting and midgets, would have a perfect candidate for open wheel series and Indy 500 championship runs.
However, the lure of big bucks in NASCAR diverted his career.....
Tony didn't make an allowance for that when he split CART by creating the IRL.

And he is a real car guys' "car guy" in spite of his failings at the Speedway.
The question is will his 3 sisters get the Speedway back on track?

I agree Keith. It used to be "thee" race to watch, be at, follow for the month. Now...
