  • SS console identification - help a brother out...

OK Guys - I'm no chevy SS expert and I need your help.

A friend of mine had the console below kicking around his house when I was there helping him move - he suggested I take it and list it on Ebay for him.... so that's what I intend to do.... however, I don't know which SS vehicle this is for - camaro? chevelle? Impala?

Can you guys tell what vehicle and roughly what year this thing is from? or what they go for at swap meets?

I can narrow it down to Chevelle or Impala '67 or older, but that's as close as I can get. Definitely not Camaro. Look on the back side for part numbers cast into the parts-should be some.

I usually cheat, look at the search terms...

        ebay search

the * acts as a wildcard, so listings with the numbers 1960 thru 1969 will be shown

Here's what I found inspecting the back side of this thing:

            Casting Number:
            P 3858904 C

On the back of the clock:

            Wesclox Made in USA
            Stamped in red ink:
            A FEB 26 65

feb 65 would indicate a 66 MY part yes?

The window is generally within 100 days or so, that would make it a '65 piece. The search Jim linked showed a 65 and 66 and that one looks right for a 65. Search completed listings for 65 Impala console and see what they've been going for.

I was going to say it looks very similar to the one we had in a 65 Impala SS automatic car.
                      GM G-bodies, because I can't afford a 69 Camaro.

I noticed the Clock in the center, but didin't some of these have a Vacum Gauge in the same spot? ~J/W.

SS option moved the clock from the dash to the console. The space on the dash got the vacuum gauge, or the optional and non see-able tach.

This pic showed the day I got this console and a previous owner put a tach where the clock goes. The stick style console has the shifter hole off the side, not in the middle. '64 and 66 are completely different. (No wonder no one bothers to reproduce these.) After 67, the Impala basically got the same console as a Chevelle.
