                          I don't know anything about the drivers, but to me it's an appalling and disgraceful waste of taxpayer funds for the government to be involved in sponsoring frivolous sports. I don't mind the military academies fielding their own football teams, but the idea that the government is spending our money to compete in motorsports doesn't seem right to me.

                            They use it to recruite. I've been on many private tours of Schumacher's place and they do amazing things for the Army.

                              Well, that might be a positive use of funds. And perhaps even as an engineering exercise. But they potentially have the deepest pockets possible, which might deter competition in the sport. I know they don't need to recruit for the academies (my brother is a Grad) because so many people want to get in, but perhaps for general recruitment it could helpl
