Strangest diesel-powered anything??

Whats the weirdest car, production or swap, that features an oil-burner under the hood? Plenty of folks swap a diesel in for a mountain of torque, that sweet diesel clatter or just to be different.

I just Googled for "diesel corvette" and actually saw a few examples on utube n such. But this article intrigued me.

At first I just thought maybe GM cut the program due to the ensuing economic conditions and America's general lack of any diesel offering outside of a truck these days, then I referred the the early April release date. I was fooled just for a sec, and it's still March.

Diesel powered small planes are not that uncommon now, nor are that all that common, but back in the 1930's a Packard and a few other companies took shots at using diesels in planes. The motors did some cool stuff but were generally too heavy, too unreliable, and too underpowered, to make it in the marketplace.

I worked with a guy who drove a factory diesel chevette back in the early 80's . He swore by the thing and drove it till it fell apart. Strange little car back then and I have never seen or heard of any others since.

as a Toyota rep, my company car was a camry diesel. and I have worked on a few Escort diesels.

i have a camry diesel turbo, that thing has a week of turbo lag however, it did get 30-50 mpg. 30 most of the time but one trip to oklahoma it got 51

my dad had an 81 eldorado with it. I loved it...
the a/c compressor wasn't a tragedy to kick on, the idle never budged. The idle alone keeps me attracted to diesel. ;D

I pumped diesel in an old subaru once, not a whole lot... a 9 to 1 carbed engine...it took on the valve clatter of a diesel, and even spewed smoke, idled at 200 rpm. I almost crapped a brick when I deciphered what I had done. It was a gas station mistake, (I did not go for the diesel pump)Fresh gas, and random bouts of diesel squirts later (2 years in fact)..it is still running as a hypermiler today.

I would love to see a diesel boxer, subaru is supposedly giving one into america this year. I do not like 5 mains on a four cyl boxer, a slow diesel would be alright.

I used to mow a lawn with a 2cyl diesel, a suzue AWD tractor, interesting machine to feel out.

i have a 2 cyl kubota on a 7.5kw marathon generator also, not something you see everyday................
