  • How was your weekend?

After all of my transportation troubles this week, I decided that I was overdue for some good quality time in the garage with the car. So yesterday I did squeak and rattle patrol on the Escort. After that I repaired a rattling heatshield on my friends '96 Legacy Outback. Today I did 4 brakes and an oil change on a 2000 Corolla that belonged to another friend. Then I gave my trail bike attention and gave it a spring cleaning and oiling. The only downside to today is when I was putting on one of the drums one was giving some trouble until it popped on. I had an brief feeling of elation at getting it one followed shortly by the alarming realization that my left index finger was smashed between the back of the drum and the backing plate. Aside from that, it was a great weekend. How was yours?

Great, Fairlane runs strong and will get alinened Wensday. New 331 is great but can't get car into low. Burned some ruber in the mustang. Next weekend will get to go to George Rays, and after that move my car stuff to my new garage in Lake Ann.

that is all the cars need..a bit of attention.

this weekend I welded up a rigs mirror, careful not to melt some paint, and realized the glass window in the door melted with little pot marks. I guess they aren't tempered as much in the doors as I thought.. but at least the mirror isn't falling off.

another project was a broken stuck strut bolt, also a subaru. a real pain, 5 hours... >

a quick run down the highway, and no shakes wiggles thumps grinds or shimmies...in a 23 year old car that wasn't exactly known for being a cadillac. The reward is priceless.

      10gears AWD and never garaged...unfreakin believable. :

And for once in the northest, the weather was nice both days. Starting to see more bikes and summer only cars out on the roads day by day.

Not too bad. Not digging the two days off thing though. The weather was nice though, took a metal rake to the mud exposed in my backyard (next to the snow piles) and put a bunch of grass seeds down and re-raked it to get them somewhat buried. Hopefully the birds don't go nuts out there. Only three days of work then off to CA and AZ ;D

went camping with my roommate, he got his police package crown vic stuck in a ditch after sliding on snow. A guy driving by with a winch helped pull us out after about an hour or so. Backed all the way back down the mountain and went around. By the time we got to the site it was dark because of the whole ditch thing, had to start a fire and bring the cooler up first, gotta have priorities. Fun weekend though.

god some daily driver work done, got some stuff done around the house - took a long walk with Rhonda, Lee in his stroller and the pooch.

                    Overall - can't complain.

Stayed inside out of the snow and cold yesterday, but today I got the Studebaker out and cruised to our club meeting.
It was sunny and bright, and my heater worked fine. I got thumbs up and smiles all the way out and back.
And for some dumb reason, I was the only club member who showed up in a Stude. I rock.

Lots of time with the kiddos -- lots of time with Goliath. Serviced my wife's car, fixed my Wheelhorse, welded on my little utility trailer, went to a St. Pat's Day parade today.

                          Sad that it's over.

                          That's a good weekend.

the usual saturday at chevy - 8-4:30 no lunch - made about 9 hours , because of a worn out avalanche
today - took the kids to the park
did not see one hot rod driving around here today - yesterday saw some faux 3 window rat rod in hackensack, over by the mosque , also saw a citroen panel van in belleville
did see a lot of fat dudes on h-d

                              Re: How was your weekend?

I helped put a new engine in a friend's Grand Prix GTP. Took most of the day Saturday, started cleaning up the mess we made today.

Some specs on the new engine just for grins...
L26 bottom end completely rebuilt, with new bearings, rings, rods, etc., Intense Stage 3 heads, 1.6 aluminum roller rockers, GenV supercharger with 3.0 pulley, LS1 throttlebody, Methanol injected, ZZP stainless headers, MSD DIS-4, MSD coil packs, MSD wires, Cam specs: 224* int/236*exh, .573/.571 lift, 115LSA.

Sounds mean as hell, but in need of a tune. We would have gotten that done, but the snow all day yesterday kept us from taking it out for it maiden voyage yet. The old engine had the car in the 12's, so should be interesting what this new one will do since there's a lot more in this new one.
