          What about just taking the master and maybe another this year, then another two or so each year? I always hated the Mechanic A says Mechanic B says questions.

                I could have guessed.
                I recently checked on mig welding test,some license issued. Simply thinner car stuff repair..
                I can't even remember if that was ASE associated or not. I wanted it to throw on the face of the retarded inspectors I have run into here...

                How many hours does one weld before becoming a welder? :

                Being a survivor of the anal retentive pile pf paperwork in the military.. I do not have all that much faith on it. Mechanical people are just that..formal stuff is something to humor later. I like ford's approach.

                    yep I will be there 4 recerts
                    I spaced mine out when I took them but it still is a pain in the Ass my boss thinks they are gold he has had ASE Master techs that proved that by not knowing anything lol of well

                        This was one of the motivating factors behind parking the toolbox permanently.....ASE certification meant something in the beginning.

                        But it quickly became nothing more than a source of raised revenue for shops...that blue-and-white sign means you're gonna pay more.

                        Jim, I give ya props for maintaining your status with ASE....never got to Master level.......I still remember getting letters in the mail about my (few)certifications expiring soon and I "needed to re-test IMMEDIATELY in order to maintain my certs".

                        I threw it in the burn barrel, gave it my signature salute, and lit the sumbitch, post-haste.

                          oh yeah , but at the general , it counts to your overall training , in 06 , I was at 100% . affects things like parts warrantys , consideration from gm when you need help , car allotments

                            In this area, ASE's haven't meant much in 15 years, or so.

                            It's just a bullshit piece of paper, from a too easy test.
                            I felt that our Michigan certification tests were much harder,
                            and actually tested your ability to diagnose,
                            or knowledge of a specific system.

                            They, IMO are just another piece of paper hung on a wall,
                            to impress the uninformed.
