  • Early USAC production record breaking at Bonneville (video)

I don't think this has been posted before. I found it interesting (well, it is a Studebaker ya' know!).
Obviously the voice over is a sales tool for Studebaker's Avanti, but still kinda cool.

    Bitchin'

Now, that's the kind of promotion that makes a hot rodder interested in a product. We're more than 40 years too late, but now I want an Avanti, haha.

Reading some of replies on the HAMB you can find some more info about the Avanti crusade at Bonneville. Check out the post by "dare-to-be-different" here http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/s...=245550&page=2 .

More info also on the YouTube link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YG8pdR6VAXw .

I love the style of the vintage clips: infamous voice overs, 60's tunes, and a screamin' engine. Maybe CJTV should consider making one for one of their upcoming projects, ;D

If anybody wants to do an Avanti project and is not enthralled with the Studebaker engine, Avanti's after 1964 were built by a number of other people, but the early Avanti II's were almost exactly like the Studebaker version, but came with a small block Chevy engine. Thus the possibilities are endless. There is an Avanti II that has run at both Maxton and Bonneville in B/Classic Production with its 400 small block. I think his name is Jim Davis, but not sure without looking it up.
