  • An unbelievable find

This just doesn't happen every day, nor in a lifetime.

An old customer of mine, whom I've serviced his roofs on his commercial properties for the past 25
years (I have a roofing business), and who is about 90 years old, is
selling his house and moving into a retirement apartment complex. He said
he had an old car out in the garage that's been sitting for over 60 years
and wondered if I was interested in it. (he knows I like old cars) He said it ought to be worth a couple
thousand dollars for parts but to make him an offer. He said he's always
appreciated the work I do for him so whatever I wanted to pay for the car, I
    could have it.

He said he's never told anyone about the car all these years but has
finally decided to tell me about it. Here's his story...

Back in the early forties, a very good friend of his went into World War II
and asked him if he would store his car for him while he was gone. He did,
but his best friend never came back. Then sometime in the late forties,
someone got into the garage and stole the top, the whole front axle
assembly and front wheels, the hood, and the trunk. He can't remember
when or how the door handles came up missing. When he discovered the
theft of the parts, he was so disgusted, especially with the loss of his best
friend, he locked up the garage and tried to forget about it.

    And here it is:

I've got to carefully rig up something under the front end so I can roll it
out of the garage and onto a trailer.

I just can't pass up a deal like this one. Just how often does something
like this happen, anyway? I told him this car is worth quite a bit, but he
insists on me having it. He said he doesn't care about the money and
    doesn't need it.

It just needs to be cleaned up and have a little paint work done. But I
probably can't afford the missing parts!

I'll get some better pics tommorrow. Joel

Congratulations - either on a very good find or a very well written April Fools joke.

              WOW!
I love hearing a story like that!

              What about the title?
Rumors of my demise by rollover have been greatly exaggerated.
