Just a basic 454. It's on the stand right now. I had the heads worked over the winter and am upgrading to a small solid roller. I thinkl it will do a little better than last year. ;D

very cool stuff here, esp the two FE's .... and the Holman Moody v/c's!!

Buickguy, I had a 406 with a miniblower years ago, are you able to build any appreciable boost? Mine ran awesome for what it was, but I couldn't ever get the boost I was looking for (probably needed a bigger blower).. just curious, how many lbs are you running and how does it perform?

                        I can hardly identify. :
I am liking the mood of memory the photos set for me. This time of year engines climb out of winter with a bad rod, or something smacking...and if not, enjoy the oxygen and letting some power fly. ;D
All my cars have been 8cyls.. forced into another realm in the mid 90s. Imagine driving these classics everyday, not all shiny, not all glory, cussing at times..and enjoying every bit of it...as the daily driven beast.

The monte SS strikes a note. I could cruise down the highway in second....no screaming engine, no bizarre anyhting. Very very tall geared. It is to analogize old warship with a surprise. That 5.7 does not need big cam, and stalling convertor... I had 3 of the of the F-bodies, almost 100k miles in about 3 years, daily driver. Cars are nowhere near that casual today in the maine hills and leaning roads. I even drove on the snow. The only little engine balance I have found even close is the boxers.

that motor is past tense.... really past tense. It ran lean in one cylinder and burned a hole through the piston and through the head/siamesed cylinders...
I developed 9lbs at 6000 with the small pulley.... problem was, I think the intake gasket was good to maybe 6 lbs.... oh well, live and learn.. at least it wasn't a buick motor I burned up.

The most recent pic of the Impala's engine. I took this one for submission to a mag asking for project rides.

The Caprice's 454 whenever I clean it. It more dirty and greasy now along with 10 lbs of tiny branches from the freaking trees at work. Hopefully, it will get some lovin this year in the way of a rebuild.
