All of our great sponsors ads are running on the blog, which is the most viewed part of the site. Here in the forums we're running google ads now.
Why?
It's some cash flow for us to help cover the ever increasing costs of running the site. We're growing like a weed and each month that means the server bill goes up, and other costs increase, which is awesome because it means we're moving in the right direction.
Plus, it helps our travel budget because we're planning on getting out on the road far more this show/race season to bring you awesome video and coverage of stuff.

We are able to "disallow" stuff and as we're learning on the fly about this thing (as usual :D ) we'll try to keep the crapola to a minimum.
