I posted about a hippy looking guy named bill, (passed on december).. He knew the value of the 302 chevy as well. If you ever look at a 350 cylinder walls.. note how much is not even bothered at BDC by fires that don't even fill it.... the 302 filled more of it by nature. "homogeny"
I am still a fan of 4 inch bore, tiny stroke. It seems chevy went weirdo like the hemis. The 302 proves it.
What amazed me was the performance out of that little 302 engine. I had this big new 396-375 horsepower Chevelle. In those days, we ran seven-inch rear slicks and open headers. Capital Raceway had a bracket racing program for all of the locals like Ray and myself. If you had a 12-second car in those days, that was fast! I was running in the 12s, but so was that little 302. This is where I really had a reality check as to just how bad these new Z/28s were!Previously boxer3main

Stocker use stock parts or very close to it or aproved replacement parts. The Drive train has to remain stock susp with bolt on parts this is where cal tracs and the like started years ago. You are allowed to bore .075 over. Aftermarket pistons that are NHRA approved. Original cam lift required but any duration and lobe centerline is ok. The Muncie can be replaced with a Jerico 4 speed. It has to use a 12 bolt but a spool and aftermarket axles are ok. Even wheelie bars are ok.Comment
