That car is in the new Muscle Mustangs&Fast Fords, very cool with the 3 valve motor in it.

Wait until guys start doing swaps with the 2011 Mustang 5.0L 4V engine ... word is that FRPP is going to offer them as a crate engine as well. A Ford specialty shop already has a 2011 running high 11s with exhaust, a tune, and tires. Imagine that same power with a set of 4.10 gears and 500 lbs. less to propel. :P

love the fairmont with the squared up rear windows chassis ..
I owned a 79, but with four headlights, and square back.

I was forced to get rid of it, I was just a kid. bunging up the yard with junk. :

the pain of having the 74 ford 302 in my junked pickup, with its 3 speed already converted to the floor, larger manual brake setup, all in the same 100 square yards and not being able to explain the integrity of myself to my parents has never been forgotten....never got built.

That would have been in 1990..all built. The older 302 was the liveliest I ever drove. All factory.
I did get my adulthood revenge with other projects. ;D

Mine (a 78 wagon) looked like that, only it was bronze in color.
Engine was the O.E. motor from one of my 83 Mustang GT's(5.0 H.O.bbl.),
                    trans was a shift kitted C-4, 86 5.0l 8.8 w. 3.47 posi.

I found only one on 6 pages of national craiglist for fairmont

this is the exact looking zephyr I owned.. complete with this type grill... two of the fanblade alloys were missing, but still had two on the front. I got advised to keep it, and well, my story is in the post above.

if you find one of these, looking for a project.. go for it. ;D

                        Re: Very cool Fairmont

Many years ago there was a guy who ran a Fairmont Wagon at Maxton. I can't remember exactly what Ford engine he used in the car, but as I recall he did pretty well with it. The car was also used in some SCCA events as well. It was a plain bodied car, not wood sides. I always got a kick out watching that wagon run.

                            That thing sounds MEAN!

My dream fairmont would have two more doors and phone dials though.
