  • Weeville Threatened Again

Why can't it all just be fun? There was the foiled Weeville buyout attempt (I posted that one), and then back in January there was the first-and-only-ever actual hate mail from somebody (anonymous, of course) who took serious offense to the Redneck page. I didn't post that one - it was rambling and really clinically insane.

Now there's a new inside move that's required me to do a lot of research as to its legitimacy. Here's what I found in my mail this week:

I sure didn't open the message, because it even LOOKS like a ticking bomb. So, I just studied it.

This "windows live Term" person or group is mysterious indeed. Their intent is unclear, so I had to take each piece of it to be a clue on its own. The sender name has an unusual application of both upper and lowercase characters.

Only "Term" is uppercase, so there must be some real significance to that. "Term" often applies to a length of time, so maybe that's an inference to time being almost up. Or is it maybe like a "term" of agreement that I never agreed to?

But the first two words of the sender name, "windows live..." That took some real thought. Lowercase. Well, windows live on houses, so whoever is operating this scheme must be in a house with windows somewhere, and there's not much time left (Term).

The message title, all uppercase: "Verify Your Accounts..." WHAT accounts? I have all sorts of accounts that I've already verified, and most of what I do is on account of because I want to. So I think that was just to throw me off from the REAL message.

"...Now..." That's pretty straightforward. After all, there is a "Term" involved.

"...To Avoid Been..." If in life we could ever figure out how to avoid anything that's already "been," we'd be immortal.

"...Closed." Since this message was sent from a house with windows, they must have the windows closed so nobody can see what they're doing inside the house. And they think they are immortal, so that's a clear trail of evidence I can immediately turn over to the authorities.

I'll keep everybody here updated on how this case turns out.

I use AVG with good results. Does not slow down my computer, and has done well to protect me from sites not being what they pretend to be and e-mails with trojans and other bad things. For a few dollars more they even install it via the internet for you, that's what I did. I was worth it cause I don't know what I'm doing and they got it up and running in a short time and fixed some things that were running for no reason. It's a lot cheap than having to fix my puter after it's been attacked. One computer is still in the shop being cleaned out.

I love my MAC. Very little spam is written for MACs so it doesn't affect me. At least not so far. Besides, if I had a PC I might have to actually know something and I work hard to avoid that.

          Re: Weeville Threatened Again

"to avoid been closed" = BAD GRAMMAR

BAD GRAMMAR and/or misspellings (did I spell that right?) = NOT ENGLISH AS A FIRST LANGUAGE

Therefore, its from foreign internet techie scumbags from a country where English is NOT normally used.

Usually the local internet techie scumbags from around here can get a paying job in the 6-figure range, so they could care less about these crappy internet fishing scams.

There's a trio of teenagers that can get to the bottom of this in a half hour. You can pay them in Scooby snacks
