Re: Ronnie James Dio passed away

Ronnie James Dio, legendary vocalist for Black Sabbath, Heaven & Hell and Dio, has died after a battle with stomach cancer, according to his wife, Wendy Dio. He was 67 years old.

The heavy metal singer died early this morning. He was being treated at M.D. Anderson in Houston.

A rumor circulated Saturday night on Twitter about Dio's death. His wife quickly shot that down: "He is not doing well, but he is not dead."

His wife released a statement to blabbermouth.net today:

"Today my heart is broken, Ronnie passed away at 7:45 a.m. [on Sunday] 16th May. Many, many friends and family were able to say their private goodbyes before he peacefully passed away.

"Ronnie knew how much he was loved by all.

"We so appreciate the love and support that you have all given us.

"Please give us a few days of privacy to deal with this terrible loss.

"Please know he loved you all and his music will live on forever."

Dio spoke just a month ago during an awards ceremony about dealing with chemotherapy and his prognosis:

                AS SEEN IN ANOTHER FORUM

"Many years ago I was getting out of my car to check into my hotel in Daytona Beach, FL. It was raining and very dark. I am confined to a wheelchair and was struggling to hurry with my luggage from my car when this very creepy guy runs up to me, scaring me to death, and grabbed my luggage and said, ?I?ll follow you.? I checked in, with the creepy guy in two, and went to my room. He brought in my luggage and told me if I needed anything to call him in his room. He gave me the details, and invited me for a drink in the bar. Reluctantly I said OK figuring I owed the guy a drink. When we entered the bar, EVERYONE looked...It was then I found out he was Ronnie James Deo. He gave me back stage ticket to his show and provided me a ride with him in his limo....I have never met a nicer person in my entire life. RIP, my friend..."

Re: Ronnie James Dio passed away

Dio was arguably the greatest heavy metal vocalist of all time.

He also did some incredible work with a local guitarist here, named Kerry Livgren.

                        Rest easy, Ronnie.

                        Ron
It's really no different than trying to glue them back on after she has her way.

Back when MTV meant music television.

I'm not sure what it means now...
