  • Best "starter car" for under 2500 game (craigslist)

Took me 10 minuted to come up with a subject but I thought it would be cool if we could see who could come up with the best builder for 2500 or under from craigslist...2500 is a fair bit of scratch for someoen like me but I could scrape it together in a pinch if the right deal came along...I think it is a good starting point...

ONLY POST ONE A DAY, POST THE PIC AND LINK, AND EXPLAIN WHY YOU THINK IT IS A GOOD BUY

dont me lazy and not post the pic...lets see what you can find.

This is my pic for today...

reason #1 looks like it wants to eat puppies and step on kittens
    #2 No rust
#3 My 383 would be BAD ASS in it
#4 Super easy to do the interior
#5 only needs some semi gloss black paint to be "done" IMO

If you can leave two black stripes from the exit of one corner to the braking zone of the next, you have enough horsepower. - Mark Donohue

starter car as in hot rod? or classic?
I have been on an impala kick lately, 250 miles of bangor maine...

        older than the round ones.

I start with a $3000 guy willing to barter. no photo, but here is the post (gray maine):

1978 impala 2 door with alow mileage 383 chock full of upgraded parts. Eagle forged crank, full comp valvetrain and cam, edelbrock 650 on perfomer intake manifold, headers and custom stainless TRUE DUAL exhaust. Downside? No paint, interior pretty rough, needs carpet on drivers side, and has jeep cherokee seats (odd looking, but far superior to the stocks). Real nice looking american racing 15 inch rims with cooper cobra radials in about 75% condition. Ok, no bullshit, this thing needs some work, but for a few hundred bucks in paint and materials and a fun summer project, this could be one really sweet ride. Can be registered as an antique to avoid the need for inspection, which is a must with this exhaust. Ever heard an uncorked 383 through dual exhaust on the street? It makes little kids cry. I'd love to finish this thing but I have to lighten the load before I move south. Pics available by email. Make me an offer!

Damn Joe, this is exactly what I am looking for. Just not from Arizona. Has to be closer to Wisconsin.
And I mean EXACTLY, small block, long bed, big rear window and in primer. DAMN.

                  1986 Mercury Capri $1750

Parts are dirt cheap and plentiful.
You would have to really screw something up for it not to be fast.
Can be a road course car as well as drag car.
I like the flared fenders of the Capri's.

You can't drive this away. But if you can do a lot of the work yourself this Bulletnose might not be a bad buy. A Champion but comes with a Stude V-8.

this corvair seems like a screaming deal at $2900 for somebody:
