  • Who has owned a PERFORMACE Mopar?

Keep your Dodge Omni and Plymouth Horizon stories to yourselves!

I spec "performance" because I currently own a heap that is a Mopar but is about as performance oriented as a Bluebird school bus.

We've heard from the Camaro and Mustang guys. Mope owners...spill the beans!

    Me = NONE. :'(

That which you manifest is before you.

Re: Who has owned a PERFORMACE Mopar?

          1968 Coronet 440

Warmed over Magnum headed small block / 904 / 3.91's, Wilwood discs.

I used to see it a few streets over from my parent's house when I was a kid. After college in 1995, I wanted an old Mopar, drove by, it was still there. Two weeks later it showed up on a local Budget Car Sales lot on consignment. Looked it over and bought it for $1000. Sold it in 2005 to a guy who was looking for a Mopar project car for him and his son.

Re: Who has owned a PERFORMACE Mopar?

my very first car was a mopar.

                a 1973 coronet sedan.
some hacked up cop car that never became one...or if it was one.. never went back to normal. The "smog pump" was more a supercharger. Never held the transmission. Today, I would know what to do with it. Less than 100k miles..
awesome sound just to start it. the throttle was so snappy, I bent the hood hinges while stomping on it, with hood up.
I did get some expert advice... had to let it go. I was only 15/16.. no help but my own.

It would be in the "performance" as some oe special build. It is just one of many cars that I did not want to see die before a resolve. :

Re: Who has owned a PERFORMACE Mopar?

My old Travco project has a 440 in it. It also weighs 5 tons with the interior stripped out.

The 67 Fury III wagon with the 2bbl 383 probably doesn't count either.

Wife has a 70 Dart, it has a 340 in it, but started life with a slant 6.

Re: Who has owned a PERFORMACE Mopar?

                        I have owned a few:

                        1962 Valiant (390HP crate engine, 727, 8-3/4 with 4.10's)
                        1971 Demon (440/727/8-3/4)

                        and I still have my 1969 Road Runner (440, A-833, 8-3/4)

                        Ron
It's really no different than trying to glue them back on after she has her way.
