Are you actually racing it? Then @#$! everyone else and paint the numbers on. Badge of honor.
The Ma and NH state troopers write tickets citing the numbers are obstructing the view of the driver. Then they go ahead and write every violation on the car up they can find.
On the flip side, I guess I don't see the point of painting the numbers on the window, but hey, it's not my car!

I just heard this line in a movie "Everything is illegal in MA."

Maybe I misunderstood, I read the original post as Walt wanting to paint the numbers on the door, not the window. No legal violations there that I can think of. If they are on the windows, then yeah there could be legal issues. Which is it Walt?
i'd not paint it on...
even if it's on the metal part of the door...
you want it for racing...
the thief, see's it as a calling card for speed parts they can sell....
it's like the fools that put the alpine banner across the top of the windsheild..
or the Jl audio decal...
also, if at anytime you have a oppsie.. and crash..
the officer on seen might side with the other driver, IF your car looks like a rally racer...
right or wrong, they do.. make judgements....
also, your insurance company, might drop you if they ever see the car..
