Epic Awesomeness. There is no other way to describe tonight.I beat my best time, blew the doors off of a '09 CTS, and I drove a Mustang. I got to the strip at six and I was the second car down the strip. My first pass was pretty decent- 10.915. After that, I ripped off a 10.745 which was a new best for the Escort. I would later top that with a 10.740 which is about a tenth and a half better than my previous best. I met some folks that were out there with a '87 Mustang with a 5.0 and an AOD. Their 15 year old son was racing, and I rode along with him twice so he could make passes. His Dad then asked me if I wanted to make a pass. It turns out that it takes a lot less effort to shift an automatic from 1 to D than it does to shift a stick. I managed to drop the AOD from 1st to park at 60 mph (and straight back to first). Apparently the owner of the car was sick in the head, because he let me do it again, and this time I did it right, running a 10.2 at 68, and cutting a half decent light at .174. Then I was pulling into the staging lanes, and two guys who had been watching jumped into a CTS and drove in with me. They were giving me some nasty looks and kind of gave me a bad feeling. So I decided that I would not give them anything to laugh at. I cut a .070 light and knocked out a 10.795. Apparently, they were not drag strip regulars, since they napped through a .582 light and drove through the lights with a 10.898. For some reason, they parked the Cadillac after that. 8) As it was closing on 8:30, the Escort started losing power through the lights. Low on gas. So I went over to some guys with a gas can and I bought a gallon of 112 and threw it in. I lined up with the 5.0 stang twice more, losing both runs, but I had a great time. I only have a few crappy cell phone pictures, and I will have those up later.

Re: Test and Tune!!!
This was an educational trip. Even with the Falkens up front, I still had trouble hooking up. On at least one run, I spun them through 30 mph. I found that my best lauch was to let the clutch out about 3/4 of the way and gas it to just before the secondaries opened, and then at about 20 mph let the clutch out and give it all it had. It was still spinning a little, but it was much more manageable. My best 60' was a 2.376 Which is a nice improvment from last time.
