So, if I get a lathe, what should I look for? I only need about 30" between centers, and maybe 8-12" of x travel. It would need to be able to accept a collet so I can chuck up a tool and use it to cut the arcs into the inner piece, and have enough room on the carriage to mount a 8" vertical rotary table.

My really old South Bend 9" lathe has a 4 foot bed, and uses 3C collets (up to 1/2" diameter). Not sure if it has room for the rotary table.
