  • Goodmark Four Inch Steel Cowl Hood

My Goodmark hood finally arrived last week.
For a few dollars more they bought it to my door, cheaper than a van rental for 24 hours.
Installed it, could not shut it, seems Goodmark are unaware a Camaro motor is offset a tad to the passenger side,
because the circular cutout for the aircleaner was centered in the hood.
So the modifying began, saw to get metal out of the way, hammer to relieve the inner skin of the cowl intake, which luckily is a double skin.
The arc of the hood on the fender line is a little off as well, more on the pass. side but the paint/metal man said he can fix it.I can now cover my 4" aircleaner on a carb that sits on a two inch spacer.
Also I do not get so much motor heat or smell inside the car.
I will do some underhood shots when it is painted silver at the moment black is bad to shoot.

I don't know Malc, hat silver black evilness is working for me.

If you don't mind me asking, how long did it take to arrive from when you ordered it?
      Escaped on a technicality.

It gives the Camaro a snarling beast look to it. Nice.

Ordered 06 May but they Summit which they did not have one in stock so it was a backorder wait.
Finally shipped out of Summit on 25 May and after two days in customs arrived at my door on 01 June.
Shipper was DB Schenker and I tracked it all the way on their website.
When I first looked at buying the hood shipping was $322, order day it had gone to $360 but luckily that figure was
locked on ordering as it went to $388 later.
Customs and shipping to my door another $350, paint and "adjustment" will be another $366............whew !!!
I like the black look but I think silver will be better.

Anyone want a tatty Camaro hood with glued on fiberglass cowl ?

Re: Goodmark Four Inch Steel Cowl Hood

Very nice. If only Goodmark would come out with the 4 inch hood for more models. I quit waiting on a 4 incher for my Malibu and just picked up a 2 inch. No money for paint so its ether leave it flat black which fades outside or give it a Duplicolor rattle can special.
                      GM G-bodies, because I can't afford a 69 Camaro.

Re: Goodmark Four Inch Steel Cowl Hood

I guess when you've paid over seven hundred dollars :o for shipping alone, you're not going to skimp on a little paint.

I can't believe any mfr. can profitably make such a part, surely the market is not that big. I would love to see their die sets etc. That sure looks nice on the Camaro, anyway.

200kss watch out for that flat black, it -may- be just a primer and not hold up to weather/moisture. I have an aftermarket hood I picked up second-hand and it has light rust across the whole exterior, which came through the stock finish after a couple years.

                        ...

I like it in silver. And I agree - looks great, just a bit nasty. The body guy got a nice fit out of it, too. My fiberglass 4" on the 'Stang fits like crap. I finally got it to shut and line up sort of OK but not great, even after massaging. Your Camaro has to be a real oddity in Spain, no?
