GM recalls 1.5 MILLION cars

Seems they can't seem to keep the washer fluid tanks from catching fire..... lmao. Makes Chrysler's 600k car recall seem small.

The first thing it reminded me of was the Ford cruise control recall, where your Ford could burst into flames for no apparent reason, rather it was turned on or not.

Funny to light washer fluid up though. Interesting to see that their "designed" protection failed, as opposed to, hey we didn't plan for that to happen. I know my friend's GXP isn't on that list, he had a frozen washer bottle all winter, Lol :D

there is alcohols in the fluid. :

I poured some in a channel I was welding, instant fire, mellow. the water even carried its own oxygen source.

great for hillbilly heat tempering....

heated windshield washer tanks... wth? the "fix" is to remove it and pay the customer $100 bucks for "a reduction in features"

To be fair only 5 cars have caught on fire and a couple of those the car wasn't running, which leads me to believe insurance scam.

GM is just covering their butts, better safe than sorry.

Most of you guys know what I do for a living. I had a Ford van, one of the speed control switch fire recall vans, ignite in a warehouse full of fertilizer and other really ugly stuff over a weekend break at work a couple years ago. Major disaster was averted and we only spent a little more than $500,000 dollars on the cleanup, environmental processes, etc. My company is still involved with Ford legally over it.

They're gonna get their ass sued off if the wrong vehicle burns at the wrong time.
