    Re: We're Screwed

    FIRST OF ALL,
We should stop placing all the blame on B/P
THEY ...... LEASE the rig, and outsourced the drilling and valve work..
they just happen to be the easyest one to place the blame on..

I'll lay darn good money on this - that BP would not be paying for the cleanup if they could have found a way out of paying.... yeah, they leased the rig to develop their hole in the ground... then they oversaw the operations.... that makes them liable.... they would have been far better off staying off the rig, but since they were there.... they're on the hook.

In legalese - the Rig, the employees all were agents working on behalf of BP. Of course, the gov granted them the permit to drill without demanding additional safeguards.... but it all comes full circle because we the People pay the increased energy costs associated with drilling, fixing, and settling the lawsuits.
Doing it all wrong since 1966

maybe so, but wouldn't be better publicly to pay to fix the mess then go after the others involved?
like insurance companies, they pay to fix your car then go after the one at fault be it the person or they're coverage..
really doesn't matter, they'll file chapter 11 or 7 and open up as another corp. name

                  Re: We're Screwed

one reason given why royal dutch shell oil skimmers were not used was a protectionist maritime act about foreign ships moving between US ports
so , it could have been stopped , but WE didn't want to step on toes
