The year I did the emcee deal at the CC Summer Nats was the first year of it. Baer brakes sponsored a "brake stop challenge" where people would accelerate to 60mph and land on the binders to see how the stoppers worked.
They held this on a back access road that had several large trees next to it.....see where this is going?
A girl in a recently (like days before) finished Mustang II launched off, got a very large head of steam, buried the brakes and piled the car into a big ass tree. She was OK but the car was way banged up.
