      Re: Pondering a color change

I have had "House of Krylon" paint jobs on my cars, both the 70 GTO and the Formula in my sig were once painted with rattle cans. Now that I dont live on base I can do so much more to keep them from rusting. It works for a while but that paint doesnt hold up well to weather. The Yellow on my 70 GTO has held up better than the gold, blue, black, and red that was on it before, but it still flakes off and fades after about three years in the weather.

If you have the tools handy, it doesnt take much to shoot a single stage enamel on a car and make it last longer than rattle cans, and it will look much better with just a bit of prep.

BTW, the 79 Formula in my sig was acquired by me in Frankfurt when it was still part of West Germany, its been run pretty hard on Bahn 3 and Bahn 5, along with lots of trips into Frankfurt for fun.

        Re: Pondering a color change

Walt, I'm seeing solid red with a tapering white stripe that widens as it approaches the rear deck and also crosses it, maybe to connect on the deck or continue to split and drop down the back as two separate stripes.

Then add the numbers eventually in a fancier font on the front of the rear quarter, infront of the tire but behind the door, under the stripe..

Maybe a little scallop in white on the hood too.....

And perhaps a bit of a drop......

        And some wheels....

        And.....

        ;D

Oh hell Walt,if Keith will chip in for two cans of paint then I will chip in for a couple and we will do her up right in the fall.

Or you could spend that time on your hands and put some more in the motor and maybe do some wind resistance work. ;D
Keep smiling, makes them wonder whats on your mind.

                  Re: Pondering a color change

How about red & white in the So-Cal speed shop style? That'd be kinda cool... 'cept make the call-out "NorMich Speed Shop" or something witty like that...

                  Photochop, anyone?

Based on the comments here, and just thinking about the colors, it's gonna stay red and white with the same scheme it has now. It looks good to me and I like it.

:o I believe you are right!

The subconscious mind is a sneaky and powerful thing...... a couple of weeks ago while I was hanging my new-to-me traffic light in my shop, barely balanced on top of a 12' stepladder with the somewhat heavy light in one hand and a screwgun in the other (with a screw balanced on the tip of it, ready to fire it in) guess what I found myself humming?

Mr Rodgers theme music. And I am not in the habit of humming while I work either, that's my Dad's territory. Spooky stuff going on the ole noggin. :P
