I FINALLY had an inspiration on this one (being under the influence of drugs slows my old brain down a tic). How about dipping the egg in fiberglass resin and letting it dry? Seems like the 'Glass would stiffen the structure considerably. I'm guessing you could then use any of the above mentioned methods with pretty much absolute assurance.

Kind of a Smokey Yunick approach, I suppose.

In this case the rules were the egg had to be exaxtly as it came from the chicken, no coatings...Good idea though!

The Yunick of Eggs.... that would be a catchy title for one of you ;D

work on your slight of hand, then hard boil the egg that falls swapping it at the ground with the regular egg ;D
