not much happens here, even when it's a soldier.

in fact it is cold. literally. I read the story, community and just regular people respected.

20 years old has alot to acheive, and it got the best of him. Of course that age gets the grunt work for some years.. it is the toughest part of the career, the mental age follows, often before their time as well.

    RIP.

Truth is Dan it's not duty for me now. Yes I work on base so I get the emails, the last time the time changed from 2pm to 11am at 1030! I was at home,I work nights,I didn't make it to the base but I did make it to a spot along the route.
The local T.V. and some radio stations always announce these home comings and us locals know the routes.

Personally I like the fact the local cities and news takes the time to get the word out if they didn't it would be just another hearse going by and nobody would understand.
I grew up in SoCal I cant imagine cars pulling to the side like I see here.

We have done the same here at Randolph AFB. The same, from flightline to main gate and beyond...
The last Marine had people standing at attention 8 miles from the base and at one of the rest stops just north of San Antonio on IH35. The city of Shertz Tx,outside the gate, had the fire trucks out with the ladders crossing the 4 lane street. People stop there cars and GET OUT! I hope I never have to do it again, but I will when called.

I know how you feel. There were lines of cars at the intersection I was at and you can tell they were wondering WTF, then they saw the motorcade and everyone of the people got out, stood and saluted....

Randolph is a beautiful base - but I'm sorry that anyone has to do this duty. Thanks for your efforts. My brother is a retired Navy commander and lives in San Antonio so I'll ask him if he's done this duty.

    may he rest in peace..
but there will be more of the same, sadly..
cause we will not do it right,, and go in both barrels ablazen..
it's truely amazing that after 8+years we've only lost the amount of troops we have..
d day lost tons more in one day..
but that did what needed to be done,, and untill something on that scope is done, this will drag on and on..

May he rest in peace, and may God bless all of our troops/heros and bring them home safe.

Too many kids. I support the effort in Afghanistan but every loss is exactly that - a loss. Peace to his family and friends and may all the fighters come back soon and safe.
