  • has the turnout at your local dragstrip, been low?

has the turnout at your local dragstrip been off in the past year or so? seems in the past, a reg. night of test n tune/grudge racing would draw 80-100 cars @ the local track. now its around 20-30. i've noticed a couple other tracks nearby have also been off.
also noticed several sanctioning bodies car count and fans attendance, has been down. economy, i guess.

I went to my first cruise in almost a year last night....have not been to the strip in over a year and a half. time and money are my reasons...seems the ammount of cars being build and driven are increasing around town tho...so I dunno.

I don't normally DO the drags any more, but attendance at ECTA has been growing, depending on which meet we're talking about. The June meet is always relatively light due to high temps and April is usually really busy due in part to the Hot Rod event. But all in all, I'd say we're growing a bit.

          Drags, car shows, cruises.......all have
had low numbers in our area.

          Mostly, I'm thinkin, because weather
          related........hot, humid and sticky

Yes, I hear that car count is down at the local drags, http://www.skyviewdrags.com/

However, our local region #37 for SCCA, http://snyr-scca.org/ ,was awarded the number one region in the nation for growth and retention so.......

Local cruise-nites, car shows have been up count wise as well.

"organized" racing - where the organization gets paid first , is kind of dying out , I'm afraid

Ned is at about 90% of where they were last year...so consistent there.

Shows are hauling ass. 600+ every friday at a local Walmart and 2,000+ every other week at Gilette Stadium.

test and tunes are pretty dead when i go.

shows on the other hand are booming. i actualy see alot of the cars that use to run at the drag stip there. they are not show cars but the people say they just like to hang out with other car guys and this is cheaper then going to the track

the s.e. mass/rhode island area was hurting for cruise nights..lots of hot cars , no place to go
that guy had his home made dirt track , but that got shut down
