its really not that hard, I've looked into it, just a matter of dealing with a legit importer and the local dmv, usually the dmv has a list of importers they deal with to ensure the cars are safe and legal in the U.S.

i've never relly looked into it. my old 82 Grand Prix LJ Diesel came from Mexico so i know it is doable but every where i read said it's a pain
