  • Louie Mattar's fabolous '47 Cadillac

I saw this car in person at the San Diego Automotive Museum yesterday, but alas all I had was my crap cell camera. This Caddy was setup with a trailer to travel from Anchorage to Mexico City without stopping in 1954 for ANYTHING!! That includes changing a flat.

Check out these kinda cheesy videos and it shows how he changes a flat while in motion and some of the $75k, in 1953 dollars, of accessories including washer, fridge, oven, iron, tv, telephone, full bar with ice, hooka pipe, mirror, toaster, toilet. The car weighed 8500 lbs with all this gear and managed a 7500 miles without stopping with a trailer full of full, water, and oil. The engine was capable of changing it's own oil while in motion. It also had a four coils and condensors, a 110 ac invertor and a generator. It also had alcohol/water injection.

Louie was ahead of his time, this car could be considered the first motor home. This amazing car is on display at the San Diego Auto Museum in Balboa Park.Vi...
