  • How does this happen? IT'S BACK ON.

About to go to the realtor's office and put an offer on a new house a couple of blocks away.

We weren't even really looking. ha ha

It is super deal but really needs updating, but is a 1 owner house since new in 1959 (yowza) and has been meticulously maintained. A/C units, heaters, and water heater have been replaced within the last three years. It's 3244 sq.ft. with an additional 18 x 25 sunroom (wood stove heat & in-wall A/C unit). Big yard, big trees, matching brick storage shed, plenty of room for a shop in back and only 2 houses away from the school my boys attend. It's has 2 main floors with a third floor loft room that could be a guest room or a 4th bedroom.

Not a foreclosure. This house was probably paid off 25 years ago. lol Old people + upstairs bedrooms do not mix.

                no doubt.

imagine one owner since 1959.. 3244 sqaure feet, obvious nice looking...

sitting on a bank. and really living.

have not heard a story like that since my great depression grandma and her 14k house on a hill now crossing the million mark.
a story where the husband could have had a plain jane a/c repairman job, or mechanic... it is all a sick twisted dream, and I am just gonna to jump off a bridge. ???

ok, if its not too high up, and the water looks clean. ;D

Plop down $225k and she's yours or come buy my current house and shop for $180k and we'll both be happy. ;D

This falls under my wife's 'forever house' category. One she could live in forever. I think it's a super bargain. It's listed for $29k under the tax appraisal. Usually getting one for tax appraisal around here is a good deal.

It does need paint and flooring..... well, my wife says it needs paint & flooring. I think it's fine. If I were single, I'd just move in and use it as is, but she's a bit more picky than me. ha ha

Hopefully our house moves fast. We actually had some people look at it Friday. It is in a desirable neighborhood, has 4 bedrooms and has a shop. I think those three things will definitely work in our favor.

Oh well, I'm happy either way. I like my current house, but that one just seems too good to pass up.

They say the market is "good" out here, for 225K you get a big house, with no yard a PITA HOA, and the houses are so close together when your neighbor fats you can smell it.

you should see my moms 140K house...makes be friggin sick, very nice 3 bedroom home, well cared for on 7 acres...140K!!! makes me sick!

man, I wish I could get a house that cheap.....

Here my little 62 year old 1600 square footer on .2 acre is worth $300K+ (keep in mind, I'm 60+ miles away from Vancouver BC, city of about 75000 people, if I was only 30 miles from Van it would be worth more like $450K
Anything that I look at as a definite improvement is $400K

Good luck - and don't forget to get a mortgage for enough to cover the 60x80 insulated airconditioned shop! ;D

I'm glad someone is taking advantage of this housing market.

We are stuck in our house forever like it or not - we bought at exactly the wrong time. :'(

"This falls under my wife's 'forever house' category. One she could live in forever. I think it's a super bargain. It's listed for $29k under the tax appraisal. Usually getting one for tax appraisal around here is a good deal."

The tax appraisal over here is quirky in that the value is most often LESS than the real market value, so yeah, sounds like you should steal that one and run. Hope it works out for ya, a beautiful place indeed.

W got ours sort of the same way, old folks and upstairs bedroom don't mix. So we two old folks bought it from those two old folks. What the flock were we thinking? But we love it, we hope it's OUR forever house as well. We can always live downstairs and never bathe, we guess.

And RE value, Unit's cousin and his wife came to visit last year. Let me tell ya, that hurt. Their lifestyle and ours collided. Gave me a two-day headache. But anyway the one thing we got from that visit, her cousin turned us on to Zillow.com. He says (truth or legend) that the market real estate appraisers don't even work to appraise anymore, they just go to zillow.com and whatever they say is what they'll appraise the house for if it's not torn completely to shreds on the inside. It's cool.

Good luck with the purchase! Reminds me how exciting it is to get a new place. Yeah, it's a major life event, and a fun one...when the dust settles.

                              Just as an update.

Owner has been out of town, so no reply on the offer... boo.

Meanwhile, yesterday I rented a storage unit to 'unclutter' the house a bit. Mostly moving seasonal stuff out of closets and misc boxes and stuff from the garage. Oh yeah, our house went live on the market today. yikes.
