Probably not much bigger than the one I have now. I have a 20x24 now and it works fine for me and what I do. May bump up to a 24 x 24, but there are a few trees (valuable items here) I will need to work around to put the shop in.

                      X2

I passed on a house that had a 4 car garage. Mainly because white it had a new roof AC and furnace, it was, uh, 99 years old, and needed to be gutted and sealed back up.
I went with a house built in 1980, that backs to nothing but a bit park behind us. And while a a bit small, when we moved in, new roof, furnace/ac, kitchen, bathroom, etc...for the money, made the most sense, and made my wife happy.
Still need to build a garage, but that will be held off a while yet.

                      Congrats on the find.

And now I get to renovate a house, then have somebody else build me a shop. haha

I think I will just have a local steel building company build me one this time around. My dad and I built the last one (wood frame/siding) and while it was a fun project, it took us quite a while to do it. I like the fact these guys come in and build it and they are done super fast.

My buddy just had a steel building put up a couple of weeks ago. 20x21, 10' rollup overhead door, man door, concrete floor. Ran him $5800 including the floor. The building was up in 4 hours.

Only thing I was unimpressed with, the company voids the corrosion warranty on the siding if you put electricity in the building.

Welcome to home renovation! I am just finishing refinishing the floor of the last room in my old farmhouse. Wee!

Need a floor sander? Got a good one..... ;)

                              Nice work!

Now - don't spend much time on garagejournal.com - those guys will have you convinced you need to spend $100k on a building that's as clean as most operating rooms!

Way to go - I'd encourage you to have any and all hardwood floors in the new place refinished before you moved in, we didn't and now I can't see any realistic way to have it done that does not involve a major PITA!

I second, third, and fourth this sentiment. We've been entering 1/2 of the house from the back porch, and the other 1/2 from the front porch for a week now. Aargh!
