The biggest reason I chose the self-propelled Snapper over the cheapie new one (propelled by me) for the same price? The 1.5 acre lot. It took me 3.5 hours to mow. If I had bought this house I would have invested in a rider, but since I'll probably only be here for three years I couldn't justify the extra cost.
For those who are curious, I have just over $150 into it including the cost of tuning it up...pretty much the same amount as the cheapest gas powered push mower at the big box stores.
An equivalent new Snapper at my local Snapper dealer is $479. So, I could put a new motor on it and still have less in it than a new Snapper.
Joe, that mower is awesome...but I need one that I can use without fear of scratching the paint.
